I like this advice. I tend to think of defining a new word as a way to compress a complex concept into a more manageable handle. (related). Instead of explaining a concept to your friend using many words, share a link. Put the onus of explanation on the expert. I often do this at work with things that I have to explain frequently. The admonition, of course, is that you are responsible for making sure that the content at the end of that link is reliable.
